Happy Holidays from SASF's Board of Directors

We want to wish everyone a warm and joyful winter holiday season! We hope your holidays are cheery, merry and bright.

As 2023 comes to a close, we want to thank every person who has supported SASF this year. We are grateful for every staff member, volunteer, program member and participant, donor, and more--you all make it possible for us to continue our programs, keep our doors open, and serve the community. Thank you for your generosity and thank you for being a part of SASF!

Have a safe and happy New Year. See you in 2024!

Angelo and Sofia Tsakopoulos Monument Dedication

Founding President Jerry Chong greeted all former and present SASF directors, along with the Honorable Jimmie Yee at our dedication of the Tsakopoulos Monument and Garden.

Jerry thanked Angelo and Sofia Tsakopoulous for their faith, trust and confidence in us when in 1995, he donated the land on which the SASF facility sits today. Angelo’s belief and trust in our organization became the catalyst for the Board to raise the funds needed to build our community center which opened in March 2007.

Jeff Tsuruoka, landscape architect and Curtis Matsuura landscape contractor, working with the Board conceived and built the tribute. Monument and Garden Donors:

  • Jerry and Carole Chong
  • Karen Cotton
  • Paul and Mae Fong Family
  • Rodney and Julie Kunisaki
  • Ellen Kwong
  • Jeff and Teresa Harada
  • Don and Joey Lee
  • Ray and Nancy Lee
  • Marcia Matsuda

SASF, as it approaches its 31st anniversary, is deeply grateful for the kindness and generosity of Angelo and Sofia Tsakopoulos.

Chris Wong's PG&E Community Connect Giving Fund

Growing up with SASF, Chris is giving back through PG&E’s match program which matches donations dollar for dollar, up to $5000. Chris is SASF’s sponsor for PG&E's Peer to Peer Fundraising Community. As a PG&E employee, he invites you to donate to a cause that he cares about. PG&E employees select the nonprofits that they support through Peer-to-Peer Fundraising and PG&E matches contributions to eligible organizations.

I grew up in this program, first in summer basketball league and giving back as a basketball coach and referee. This organization does so much for the communities of Sacramento and Elk Grove. Their dedication to youth development through sports and leadership programs include teen women empowerment, a talent show completely organized by youth, and basketball, ages 7-18. They have added new programs to address teen mental health, and sports programs and a fishing derby for special needs youth. Pickleball for Seniors continues to grow by leaps and bounds. An anticipated program with SMUD includes classes on the use of modern and efficient kitchen equipment.

Join me and my friends who participated in SASF programs and are now giving back in different ways.
