What's Happening in January at SASF

Happy New Year from SASF

SASF would like to wish you a happy and healthy 2022! We hope this message finds you and yours in good health. Thank you for your continued support of SASF. We look forward to building upon our programs like Sports for Life, Teens Create Dreams, Strive for Strength, Teen Mental Health, pickleball and more in 2022. And, we are excited to bring some new (and renewed) initiatives to SASF with the golf tournament, kitchen rentals and more. It's going to be an exciting year. Please take good care, thank you for your support, and we hope to see you soon!

Meet Dennis, SASF's new kitchen Partner

SASF is excited to introduce our new long-term kitchen rental partner, Dennis Freeman!

Dennis is the owner and founder of Liberation Foods, a catering company serving Northern California. Dennis and his family are residents of Elk Grove. Dennis's amazing other half is Jena Freeman, who has been employed as a special education teacher in Elk Grove Unified School District for twenty two years, and holds multiple teaching credentials and a Masters Degree from Sacramento State. Jena helped create Liberation Foods five years ago and has been a vital partner to help grow the business since.

SASF looks forward to working with Liberation Foods, including future fundraisers and programs for SASF. Dennis is excited to be a part of the SASF community. If you see him, please give him a warm welcome. Welcome, Dennis!

Sports for Life update

Sports for Life is an SASF program dedicated to adults and children (ages 10+) with special needs. Our goal is to provide an environment for everyone to participate in physical activity through a variety of organized sporting sessions, including pickleball and basketball.

2021 was an eventful year for Sports for Life as we were finally able to transition back from virtual to in-person sessions! We had lots of fun playing pickleball and basketball this past year as well as strengthening our mind and bodies with Kampfit and yoga. For this new year, we are happy to announce: SASF Sports for Life if back in 2022! With this new year also comes an updated schedule. Sports for Life will now be held every Friday evening from 4pm-5:30 pm, beginning January 14th!

The Creative Space's Holiday Food and Craft Fair was a success!

On December 18th, The Creative Space had their Holiday Food and Craft Fair. It was a cold day, but everyone came out to support over 80 small businesses for some last minute holiday shopping. There was even a Hawaiian Santa to take pictures with to spread some holiday cheer! This craft fair had a wonderful blend of delicious food and handmade crafts. ACC and My Sister's House were part of the day as well! It was great to reconnect with family and friends and to have the whole community there to support. 2021 was a challenging year for many of us, and community is more important than ever. We're hoping to take the success of this event and carry it into 2022! The Creative Space is hosting another event at SASF on Saturday, March 12th. There will be more information on this in next month's newsletter! Thank you for all of your continued support!
