Thank You for Choosing SASF: Big Day of Giving 2026
Thank you for your generosity and suppport of SASF, our community, and—most importantly—the next generation.
Because of you, this year’s Big Day of Giving was a tremendous success. Together, we raised over $11,000 on May 7, 2026. And, thanks to Chris Wong’s PG&E Community Connect Giving Fund, we were able to raise an additional $10,000. In total, we were able to raise over $40,000 in May. Thank you to the following donors for Big Day of Giving and Chris Wong’s PG&E Community Connect Giving Fund:
Big Day of Giving Donors
Your support directly helps us continue to provide programs like Strive for Strength, Sports for Life, Basic Hoops, Pickleball, and Summer League.
We are truly humbled to be a part of a community that shows up the way you do. We look forward to sharing the continued impact of your support, and we cannot thank you enough.
With deep gratitude,
SASF
We Are Proud to Announce Kingman Louie as SASF's Emeritus Board Member
We are excited to share that SASF has appointed Kingman Louie as an Emeritus Board Member! We are grateful for all Kingman has done to serve SASF over the years, and we value his partnership and consultation in the years ahead.
Kingman's message:
"It is an honor to accept the position of Board Emeritus for the Sacramento Asian Sports Foundation. I previously served on the SASF Board from 2008 to 2018, served as the Editor in Chief of the SASF Newsletter and event photographer for many years. The goal was to connect our community with our many events and programs we provided for them. I served as Vice President of SASF to help guide development of our growing organization. My four children have benefited from these various programs, and it was my way of giving back to the community. My wish is to help SASF continue to grow and be an even more benefit to those that have supported us in the previous years.
Professionally, I have been an Optometrist, in private practice, for the past 45 years, having attended UC Davis for my undergraduate degree and UC Berkeley for my doctorate degree. My other community involvement has included being a founding board member of the FBI Citizens Academy for 7 years, along with serving many years on the board of the Chinese American Council of Sacramento (President-2012), Board of Governors of the Warlord Youth Sports organization and currently President of the Riverlake Community Association for the past two years.
I am energized to see what other new programs we can develop for SASF to further be a benefit to you and our community."

SASF's Kitchen Conversion from Gas to Electric/Induction is Complete!
SASF applied to SMUD’s 2021 Shine awards program, a driver of their 2030 Zero Carbon Plan. SASF’s application contained four components: new HVAC, new LED lights in the facility, new parking lot lights and EV chargers, a modern electric kitchen and Workforce Development. The award covered HVAC, LED lights in the facility and parking lot. The vision of a new kitchen remained a discussion item with SMUD over the ensuing years with a "Go" decision in April 2025. SMUD and their contractors have been key partners in our joint commitment to this dream.
The quest for a modern kitchen started with the first permit filed July 2025. All permit reviews were concluded by March 2026 and removal of the gas infrastructure and appliances began in early April 2026.
A dedication event for our new kitchen, hosted by SASF and SMUD, is being held on June 16.

Summer League is Back!
We are excited to kick off Summer League on June 22 and welcome everyone back for another great season. This year, we are once again hosting three divisions to give all of our athletes a chance to play and grow. Our co-ed Kindergarten–3rd grade division will play on Thursday nights, while our Boys and Girls divisions for 4th–6th graders will take the court on Mondays and Wednesdays.
We can't wait to see our players out there competing, improving their skills, and having fun as they ball it up all summer long. The energy, teamwork, and excitement each season brings is what makes this league so special.
We are also excited to welcome back our amazing concession stand crews, serving all your favorites—shoyu weenies, spam musubis, and lolo freezes! Be sure to come out, support our athletes, enjoy some great food, and be part of the community atmosphere that makes summer league such a memorable experience.
We look forward to seeing everyone there!
